This location will be a perfect getaway before you continue to the bustling life of Rovaniemi and ending your journey in the Finnish capital Helsinki
Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival in Tromsø From Tromsø airport, you can take the airport shuttle (included) to the city center. During this day, we would suggest you take a day at your leisure and check out one of the many interesting sights in Tromsø. These may include the Polar Museum, Northern Light Planetarium and Tromsø Museum. The arctic city of Tromsø is the most northern university town and the largest city above the Arctic Circle. Due to the city’s location right in the middle of the planet’s Northern Light’s belt, Tromsø offers the world’s best chances of spotting the Northern Lights. - Day 2: Tromsø Your first full day in Tromsø starts with a tasty breakfast at the hotel. During this day we can offer you our optional activity, which is the Fjord Photo tour. During this tour, you will follow a scenic route through valleys and fjords, passing many beautiful seas, lakes, beaches, and iconic bridges. You might get lucky and even encounter reindeer in the area! If you would rather spend the day at your own leisure, you could choose to explore the city, or add one of the many daytime or evening excursions that are offered in Tromsø. - Day 3: Tromsø – Kilpisjärvi Today it is time to make your way to the wilderness of Kilpisjärvi. After finishing breakfast at your hotel, you will depart by bus and leave the fjord landscapes of Tromsø behind. The comfortable coach will take you towards the Finnish border and towards the baren tundra landscape that surrounds the village of Kilpisjärvi. You will check into your hotel, and we would suggest you enjoy the rest of the day exploring the surroundings. Grab your pair of snowshoes that are included in the stay and make your way into the beautiful landscapes surrounding the hotel. As the evening slowly gets closer and closer, you might be looking up to the sky, where the Northern lights dance across the sky to tell you goodnight. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Kilpisjärvi.
- Day 4: Kilpisjärvi Waking up in your new surroundings, you will eat breakfast at the hotel and plan your day ahead. During this day you can participate in our optional service Kilpisjärvi tour by snowmobile. This tour offers you the chance to drive into the tundra area and you can even stand on the special location where Finland, Sweden and Norway share their boarders! If you prefer to spend the day at leisure on your own, we suggest you enjoy the peace and quiet of the village of Kilpisjärvi. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Kilpisjärvi.
- Day 5: Kilpisjärvi – Rovaniemi It is time to leave the lovely quiet surroundings of the past days, and after having breakfast at the hotel, your comfortable coach will take you further through the snowy tundra landscapes of Finnish Lapland. You will pass by the villages of Levi and Kittilä before you reach your destination for the coming days. It is THE place to be for any Santa and Northern Lights enthusiast – Rovaniemi! Spend the rest of the day exploring the town or join one of the many Northern Lights activities. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Rovaniemi.
- Day 6: Rovaniemi Another day, another delicious breakfast. Today is all yours to explore Rovaniemi. Are you a big fan of ice skating? Then we could suggest visiting Kotatieva Winter park, where you could do our optional activity, a 500 meters long ice-skating track through the middle of the forest! Far away from the noises and distractions, you can have an active day, that is a great experience for all age groups! Would you also like to meet Santa? Then we would suggest you to visit Santa Claus Village as well! A This day can be filled with many fun experiences, all up to you to decide. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Rovaniemi.
- Day 7: Rovaniemi Since Rovaniemi has so much to offer, you get up early and eat breakfast for another day full of experiences. We suggest you take the time today at your own leisure, filling it in as you wish. In the evening hours, you will leave the Northern lights wonderland behind to make way towards the south. You will stay the night in your own private compartment, with an ensuite shower and toilet (meals not included). - Day 8: Helsinki After a comfortable night of sleep in your own private sleeping compartment, it is time to make your way to the hotel and check-in. We would suggest you spend the day at your leisure. We are more than happy to offer you our optional city tours, or you can wander around the streets of Helsinki at your own exploration. Day 9: Helsinki/Tallin
Today, we would like to offer you two different options. The first option is for the fanatical explorers amongst us, we can offer you a day trip to Tallinn (not guided). This full day will offer you the opportunity to add another great city to your list of visited places. The town is easy to navigate, as you walk through a compact maze on cobblestone streets. Explore the many shops and sights on your own, and head back to Helsinki by fast ferry at the end of the day.
Would you rather stay in Helsinki to explore the liveliness of this city a bit further? Then we would suggest you spend the day at your leisure. We are more than happy to offer you our optional city tours, or you can wander around the streets of Helsinki at your own exploration. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Helsinki.
- Day 10: Departure A great trip has come to an end, and today is time to make your way back home. After enjoying your last breakfast at the hotel, you will make your way back to Helsinki airport. We can arrange the option of an airport transfer (not included), or we could suggest you take the airport bus to get to the airport according to your own schedule.

This tour is also possible from September onwards and you will explore the stunning autumn colours of the Finnish Fell landscape. We will offer a private transfer from Tromsø to Kilpisjärvi and you can enjoy your time there hiking in the fells at your own leisure.
