This tour is possible, with start in either Oslo or Kirkenes. Please note if you choose to start in Kirkenes, the tour is shortened by one night due to the Southbound voyage on Havila. Explore the best of Norway on this eco tour. Highlights include sailing along the Norwegian coast onboard Havila, experiencing the Flåmsbana and discovering Norway’s capital city, Oslo. On this tour you will experience Norway’s nature, taste the culture, and be memorised by the country’s beauty.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Oslo Our city located at the head of the Oslofjord. The city is surrounded by nature, and known for its green spaces, museums, people, and cool vibe. Explore the museum island of Bygdøy, The Vigeland statue park or the famous Holmenkollen ski jump. The city is easy to walk, a suggested route is along the fjord a promenade of approximately 9km. Overnight in a centrally located hotel.
  • Day 2: Oslo to Flåm This morning, you will depart by train from Oslo to Myrdal, From Myrdal to Flåm, you will travel the famous Flåmsbana, a train journey described as one of the most beautiful in the world. The 20km railway was completed in 1940 and is one of the steepest standard gauge lines in the world. Arrival in Flåm, a village located at the inner end of the Aurlandsfjord. Overnight.
  • Day 3: Flåm From Flåm board a fjord cruise, as you pass through the Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. The Nærøyfjord is listed on UNESSCO’s world heritage list. Arrival in Gudvangen, an old Viking village with a lot of character. Depart Gudvangen by bus to Bergen. Arrival in Bergen and overnight in a centrally located hotel.
  • Day 4 – 10: Havila Breakfast is served at the hotel. Spend the day exploring Bergen, the city is often referred to as the ‘Capital of the Fjords’, and is surrounded by mountains and Fjords, including the Sognefjord (Norway’s’ longest and deepest Fjord). The charming city can be explored by foot, we highly recommend a visit to Bryggen with its colourful wooden houses and the Fløibanen funicular. Later, check in and embark on Havila as you prepare to sail North along Norway’s coast. Your seven-day voyage will take you from Bergen to Ålesund, renowned for its art nouveau architecture with beautiful brock houses. From Ålesund continue to Trondheim, a city founded over 1000years ago. Trondheim is home to the Nidaros cathedral, a landmark of the city. Continue North, crossing the Arctic Circle, arriving in Lofoten, with its small fishing villages, and steep mountains. The voyage continues to Tromsø, a city that has undergone a huge transformation in the last few years. Continue sailing to the North, as you come to the Northernmost point by land and sea – The Northcape is for many a ‘high’ point of the voyage. The last stop of the journey is Kirkenes. Disembark from Havila and check in to your centrally located hotel in Kirknes. Overnight.
  • Day 10: Kirkenes & Departure Kirkenes is a town with a unique location, and lies on a peninsula along the Bøkfjord, an arm of the large Varangerfjord. Should time allow during your visit in Kirkenes we highly recommend a king crab safari. In Kirknes our Grand tour of Norway comes to an end.
