Golden Triangle of Greenland

Experience the must-sees of Greenland: Kangerlussuaq, Sisimiut, and Ilulissat. Visit the Ice sheet near Kangerlussuaq, see Sisimiut’s beautiful houses that appear as small colored spots in the rocky landscape and let the spectacular Ilulissat Ice Fjord in Ilulissat take your breath away. One of the highlights of the trip will be a stay at the stunning Ilimanaq Lodge.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kangerlussuaq Departure from Copenhagen. Step off the plane and start your adventure in Greenland! The crisp air and the sight of the mountains that surround the airport in Kangerlussuaq are your first encounter with a place like no other. A local guide welcomes you at the airport and helps with check-in to your hotel. Information meeting later. For the remaining part of the day, we recommend an excursion to the Ice sheet (not included). Accommodation at Hotel Kangerlussuaq.
  • Day 2: Sisimut Breakfast at the hotel and fly to Sisimiut, Greenland’s second largest town with approx. 5,500 inhabitants. The town is beautifully set amid the rocky landscape with picturesque wooden houses in bright colors. After check-in information by a local guide. Rest of the day at your own leisure or join one of the optional excursions (ask us for an offer). Accommodation at Hotel Sisimiut.
  • Day 3: Sisimut Breakfast at the hotel. The day is at your disposal. Pay a visit, for instance, to one of the town’s arts and crafts workshops where the local artists produce and sell jewelry and crafts in soapstone, ivory, and bone. You can also join a boat tour to a local settlement (not included). Accommodation at Hotel Sisimiut.
  • Day 4: Ilulissat Breakfast at the hotel and fly up north to Ilulissat. There is a transfer to the hotel and receive some information from a local guide. The rest of the day you can relax and explore the scenery right outside the hotel – and take in the view across the town and the renowned Ice Fjord. You can also join an optional activity (ask us for an offer). Welcome dinner in the evening. Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Arctic.
  • Day 5: Ilimanaq Lodge Breakfast at the hotel and a morning with your own planning. In the early afternoon, you will sail to Ilimanaq and stay overnight in the fantastic cabins at Ilimanaq Lodge. The trip goes past the mouth of the Icefjord before we dock at the port of Ilimanaq approx. 45 minutes later. Information meeting at the lodge after check-in. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to relax completely and enjoy life in a quiet village and maybe relax on your terrace. You will dine in a historic building from 1751 in one of the world’s most remote restaurants. Here, you’ll be served a delicious three-course menu created largely with delicious local ingredients. Accommodation and dinner at Ilimanaq Lodge.
  • Day 6: Ilimanaq Lodge Breakfast at the hotel and morning with your own leisure. Now you can have various excursions on your own – or you can buy other excursions locally. We recommend a glacier adventure by speedboat, ATV and a small hike (not included). You will return to Ilulissat by boat in the afternoon. Accommodation at Hotel Arctic
  • Day 7: Ilulissat Breakfast at the hotel. This day is at your disposal. A whale safari among icebergs or a kayak tour are some of our recommendations (not included).
  • Day 8: Departure Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the last look of the Ilulissat Icefjord from the aircraft to Kangerlussuaq, before flying onwards to Copenhagen with arrival in the evening.
