RIB Fjordsafari Basic
We make stops at different attractions, spot for wildlife and to tell you about the fascinating natural and cultural history of the area. We go out through the Aurlandsfjord, past Beitelen – a characteristic mountain which divides the Sognefjord in two branches and enter into the Nærøyfjord. We stop at the famous waterfall Sagfossen, which is also our turning point on this tour. Here you have a beautiful view into the dramatic Nærøyfjord.

RIB Fjordsafari Heritage Taste
We head out through the world heritage Aurlandsfjord and further into the stunning Nærøyfjord. Our turning point is at Bakka stray, where we also see into Gudvangen the end of the fjord. This is the narrowest part of the fjord. We return on the other side of the fjord and will have a different view! Along the way we make stops at attractions and spot for seals, porpoises and eagles. The guide will tell you about the fjord, local history and the wildlife; and share with you stories, tales and legends, from various places of interest. We go ashore in Undredal, a little village squeezed in between tall mountains. Undredal is inhabited by 65 people and almost 500 goats. To no surprise the specialty of this village is the production of goat cheese, and you will get to taste it, brown and white! You will also hear about the tradition of cheese production.

Hike to Skjerdal – Leim
An active adventure from the fjord to the mountain!
We start the day with a Basic FjordSafari on the Aurlandsfjord and to the great Sagfossen waterfall in the UNESCO listed Nærøyfjord. On the way back we go ashore at the Skjerdal pier, where we start the hike towards Leim mountain goat farm. The hike takes about 1,5 hours uphill, and we will be ascending the valley going up to 400 meters in altitude. During the hike you will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery, fjord views and waterfalls. Upon arrival, the hostess will give you a tour of the farm and show you some secrets behind making the traditional goat cheese. In this magnificent setting, you can relax on the farmhouse terrace and enjoy a goat cheese tasting and a delicious lunch made with local produce. We hike back down to Skjerdal (about 30 min) and return to Flåm by minibus. Please inform us in advance if you have any allergies or are pregnant. The cheese served at the farm is not pasteurized. No hiking experience needed, but a reasonable physical fitness level is required for the uphill hike. Not recommended if you have back/knee issues, this trip is suited for those wanting an active experience. You’ll need sturdy walking shoes/trainers and clothes suited for the outdoors, rain attire if needed. Bring a water bottle.

Flåmsbana
The Flam Railway, is a spectacular train journey that offers a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. The train journey runs through fantastic nature, past the Rallar road, steep mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, through 20 tunnels and offers so many viewpoints that many feel like travelling multiple times between the mountain and the fjord. In the span of a single hour, the train takes you from the ocean level at the Sognefjord in Flam, to the mountaintop at Myrdal mountain station on Hardangervidda, 867 meters over the ocean.

Kayaking – Fjord paddle
Spending a few hours in Flåm? Join one of our easy three-hour sea kayak paddles. Just long enough to get the feeling of the peaceful fjord landscape. We paddle past Otternes Bygdetun with its old buildings and rich history out towards Fronnes where we see Viking age gravemounds. A guide will take you out on the water and guide you through the landscape and history of the area. We’ll spend 20 – 30 minutes on safety, paddle instructions and outfitting. This trip suits everyone, no kayaking experience needed.

Kayaking – The Old Kings Path
This is a sea kayak tour and short hike combined, the ideal way to experience the Fjords of Norway. We paddle to Fronneset, a place of historical importance with grave mounds from the viking era, and follow a winding path along a wild river, passing amazing waterfalls and bubbling lagoons. We will have a break on land with a hike and a possibility to go swimming in the lagoon, so bring a swimsuit and a towel. Lunch is not provided so bring a small snack and something to drink. Bring sensible walking shoes for the hike. We will spend 20-30 minutes before the trip for outfitting and safety and kayaking instructions. It is about 1 hour paddling out to Fronnes and we spend about 1,5 hours on land. The hike is approximately 20 minutes and is not difficult.

Stegastein Viewpoint
An unmissable sightseeing trip for any visitor to Flåm. Bus from Flåm via Aurland to the extraordinary and spectacular Stegastein Viewpoint. This structure, which just out 30 metres from the mountainside, 650 metres above the fjord, offers an unparalleled panorama. A more amazing view of the fjord, mountains and surrounding landscape is hard to imagine
