Short Blue Ice Hike

With help of professional glacier guides, the right equipment and expert guidance, it is no witchcraft to explore the NIGARDSBREEN Glacier. You will be roped up and walk leisurely with crampons and ice axe along deep blue crevasses and high ice towers. Sometimes you can even crawl through some ice tunnels. Some part of the route climbs quite steep up and down, which is made easier by steps in the ice. The participants should be reasonably sure-footed.

Availability: Daily, 15th of May – 30th of September

Duration: 3.5 – 4 hours (1.5 hours on the ice)

Blue Ice Hike

Experience with our guide team the giant blue ice world of the NIGARDSBREEN Glacier nearby the Sognefjord and learn about the exciting nature of the Jostedalsglacier. The trip is long enough to seek out some of the most impressive areas of the blue ice landscape. This glacier hike is more demanding than the Short Blue Ice Hike. The route passes through some more challenging and steeper parts of the glacier and as a reward you get a great view of the snow covered Jostedalsbreen and the upper part of Nigardsbreen. Discover the power of nature and learn how to use crampons and ice axe, visit ice caves, impressive ice towers and deep blue crevasses. Learn all about the formative power of a glacier. An experience you never will forget!
