Winter Activities at the ICEHOTEL
Snowmobile Adventure
Explore northern Sweden’s winter landscape in daylight. Drive a snowmobile across the frozen Torne River, through hilly terrains, and over ice-covered lakes. Your guide leads you to elevated areas with impressive views, points out tracks left by wild animals, and possibly spots arctic wildlife. A traditional Swedish fika is included.

Snowmobile Safari Northern Lights
A clear sky, darkness, and patience are essential for observing the northern lights. On this tour, ride a snowmobile into the wilderness, far from light pollution, to maximize visibility. The guide will stop periodically to explain the northern lights and provide opportunities for viewing and photography. During the journey, you will visit a warm cabin where a two-course dinner will be served.

Dogsledding Experience
Feel the dogs’ strong drive to run and pull as you journey through the scenic landscape of northern Lapland. Relax and enjoy the ride, with the only sound being the sled gliding through the snow. The tour includes wilderness coffee and cake served by an open fire.

Note: Children under 5 years old are not recommended to do this activity, especially between December and February when it can be very cold
Dogsledding (Ride) with Wilderness Lunch
Embark on an exhilarating journey as a passenger on a dog sled through the stunning boreal landscape encircling the Torne River. Guided by a seasoned musher, you’ll have the chance to ask questions and learn throughout the ride. Midway, enjoy a warm and delightful lunch at a charming wilderness camp. The adventure concludes at the Icehotel.

Dogsledding (Drive) with Wilderness Lunch
On this interactive dog sled adventure, you’ll gain firsthand experience in guiding your own team of huskies and discover fascinating details about a musher’s adventurous life in Europe’s last wilderness. After a briefing on equipment and safety, you’ll set off through a snowy landscape, feeling a sense of freedom as you traverse the snowy plains. Midway, savour a traditional lunch at a cozy wilderness camp. The journey concludes at the iconic Icehotel.

Note: We have Arctic weather which means that we during winter have extreme temperatures and short daylight hours. In winter, temperatures in Jukkasjärvi can drop down to as low as -40 C. From 15 years old.
Make your own Ice Sculpture
Participate in an immersive ice sculpting course, a must-do experience at the ICEHOTEL. The session begins with an instructor discussing the crystal-clear ice harvested from the Torne River. Following this, you’ll receive a tutorial on using the tools and be provided with your own ice block to unleash your creativity and shape the ice.

Cross Country Skiing
he tour begins at the ICEHOTEL, where you will be equipped and receive brief instructions from the guide on the best cross-country skiing techniques. Accompanied by the guide, you’ll ski upstream along the Torne River, breathing in the fresh, crisp air. Upon reaching Rimisaari Island, you’ll enjoy coffee brewed over an open fire and grilled sausage. After the guided tour, you can keep the skis for the rest of the day to embark on your own adventure.

Moose Safari on Horseback
You’ll be picked up at the ICEHOTEL by bus and transported to Ofelas Icelandic horse farm, where you’ll meet the horses and prepare your own. Ride through the moose’s grazing land while enjoying breathtaking views of Sweden’s highest mountain range, Kebnekaise. After the ride, you’ll help unsaddle the horses and be served a traditional three-course lunch. Minimum age is 12 years, and the maximum weight limit is 90 kg.

Northern Lights on Horseback
You will be picked up by bus at the ICEHOTEL and taken to Ofelas Icelandic horse farm, where you will meet and prepare your own horse. Ride through Sweden’s highest mountain range, Kebnekaise, with opportunities to spot moose and other wildlife. The peaceful ride through the winter evening feels like stepping into a fairy tale. Upon returning to the farm, you’ll help unsaddle the horses and enjoy a dinner made from local produce in a Sámi hut. Minimum age is 12 years, and the maximum weight limit is 90 kg.

Wildlife and Nature Photography Tour
Photograph wild animals and stunning landscapes during an outdoor adventure. The tour starts at ICEHOTEL, where a photo guide will pick you up. Together, you’ll take a minivan into nature and begin by familiarizing yourself with the camera and practicing photography techniques. Once comfortable with the camera, you’ll set out to find exciting subjects to photograph. The area is rich with Arctic wildlife such as moose, reindeer, and birds, and your guide will assist you in capturing these animals and the beautiful surroundings. The tour concludes with a cup of coffee or tea. Note: An SD memory card with a minimum of 8 GB is not included.

Note: We can’t guarantee that you will see wild animals during the tour, the guide will do his/her best to find the perfect spot to photograph them.
Northern Lights Photography Tour
In the wilderness around Jukkasjärvi, far from the intruding electric lights of human civilization, you will find ideal conditions for observing the northern lights. While waiting for the Aurora to grace the night sky, your guide will teach you the basics of nighttime photography and how to capture the northern lights on camera. Before heading back to the ICEHOTEL, the evening will be rounded off with a hot drink. Please note that a memory card with a minimum of 8 GB is not included but can be purchased on location.
