The Nordland Railway
The Trøndelag province is located in the central part of Norway, connecting the South and the North territories. With the Nordland Railway you will start this unique journey in Trøndelags capital Trondheim, continue along the Helgeland coastline all the way up north to the Nordland region and its capital Bodø. On your trip you will experience the variety of Norways agricultural areas, with the chance to taste local food, the southeast highland plateaus, valleys with little streams and the longest river Namsen. So get ready for an enchanting train ride through the central part of Norway and all its hidden gems.

Day 1
Arrival in Trondheim according to your own itinerary. Today you have time to explore this beautiful city by walking through the little wooden buildings featuring the old town or getting some more information to the interesting history from a guide. Don´t miss out on a visit the Nidaros Cathedral, a landmark of the city. Next to the impressive stone church you can visit the bishops palace and see the crown artifacts of the Norwegian King. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in the center of Trondheim.

Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will leave Trondheim and take the train for a short distance North. While passing green hills and with the Trondheim Fjord on your left you will reach your destination after about 2 hours. From Røra station you will be picked up and taken to the hotel. Tonight, you will stay at the Øyna Farm, a truly unique hotel that is built into the ground, to blend in with nature. This feature makes it a real piece of cultural landscape. The Øyna Hotel are members of the “The Golden Road”, a group representing over 20 small-scale destinations that present first rate culinary and cultural products. Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you continue your journey, passing lake Snåsavatnet with its clear water. After only 1.5 hours you will reach the tiny town of Grong where a transfer will take you the last little stretch to the hotel. Your accommodation for tonight will be the Namsentunet. The name is based on the river Namsen, which flows right beside the little cottages. The accommodation is surrounded by lots of forest which gives you the opportunity to book an activity, for example a guided hiking or fishing trip with the owners of the Hotel. Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel. Your train ride today will be a little bit longer, taking you through incredible nature all the way to Mosjøen. This charming city is full of typical Norwegian houses in red, orange and yellow, located right next to the Vefsnfjorden. If you feel adventures, we recommend trying Norways longest zip line over the fjord.

Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel. Your next accommodation is only one hour North from Mosjøen, located right before the former industrial city of Mo i Rana. Here, you can either do some shopping or visit the science center. If you are not a city lover, you will be happy with endless nature around to hike, swim in the lake, or visit the Marmor Slottet – a fairytale landscape in stone. Your accommodation for the night will be a charming cabin with a mini kitchen where you can prepare your breakfast in the morning while enjoying the stunning view from your balcony over the Ranfjorden. Day 6
Today, the last stage of your journey continues North through the region of Helgeland into Nordland. The highlight of this stretch will be the crossing of the Arctic Circle at 66°33`N. On your way, you will pass the Saltfjellet–Svartisen National Park with its stunning snowcapped mountain tops on your left. Finally, you will reach Bodø after around 2.5 hours train ride. We recommend booking a trip to visit the iconic Saltstraumen by RIB boat, a nature phenomenon which shows the strongest tidal current in the world. Accommodation at a 3-star hotel in the center.
