Puppy Training at the Husky Home
Join in on the most fun part of our job and help take our little puppies out for training. Suitable for adults and always a hit with the kids! One of our main ambitions is participation in dog sledding races such as the Finnmarksløpet, Europe’s longest race. The training of our huskies throughout the whole year is therefore essential and in summer it is time for the new puppies to receive their first lessons. After a 25 minutes drive from Tromsø, you will be welcomed by our guides and receive a tour of our dog yard. Here you can meet and cuddle with our 300 Huskies, while hearing about our life with the animals and dog sledding. Afterwards, you will accompany an experienced handler on a 1-1.5 hour long hike and help train our puppies, who are between 4 weeks and 7 months old. We will do different exercises to teach them teamwork with other dogs and humans. Back at the center, you will be served a warm lunch of Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish dish, in our authentic Gamme-Hut.

Polaria Museum
Housed in a very distinctive building that represents ice floes that have been pressed up on land by the rough seas of the Arctic, you will discover Polaria. Polaria offers an Arctic aquarium, interesting knowledge-based exhibits, a panoramic cinema, and a gift and souvenir shop. In the panoramic cinema, you can look forward to the Ivo Caprino film “Svalbard – Arctic Wilderness” and the Ole C. Salomonsen production “Northern Lights in Arctic Norway”. After the film visitors are taken along the “Arctic Walkway” where one can see and learn through films and installations how the ice is melting in the Arctic, how it affects the nature and the animals living there, and how researchers work in these areas. In the aquarium the main attraction are the bearded seals. The bearded seal is an arctic species, characterized by their quiet disposition and intelligent nature. The aquarium furthermore has interesting exhibits of the most common species of fish in the Barents Sea!

Fjellheisen Cable Car
The Tromsø Cable Car was built in 1961 by Brød¬rene Jakob¬sens Rederi, a local shipping company that was a major player in Arctic hunting/trapping, fishing and expeditions to the Arc¬tic and Antarctic. The gondolas proudly convey this tradition by bearing the shipping company’s symbols: the polar bear and the seal. The Cable Car runs from Solliveien in Tromsdalen up to the mountain ledge Storsteinen. The lower station is located on Tromsø’s mainland, 50 m above sea level, while the upper station, Fjellstua, is situated at an altitude of 421 m above sea level. The trip up takes just four minutes. The Cable Car is Tromsø’s most popular tourist destination. From the large outdoor terrace, you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of Tromsø and the virtually endless sight of islands, fjords, mountains and the open sea. If you look in the other direction, you will see the majestic mountain Tromsdalstinden, which towers 1,238 m above sea level. In summer, the panorama deck at the upper station provides excellent opportunities of seeing the Midnight Sun, while in winter it’s an ideal place for hunting the magical Northern Lights.
