Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival Faroe Islands Upon arrival at the airport, a bus and local guide will meet and greet you and together you begin your journey through the Faroe Islands with a tour of Vágar. Here on the west coast you can see the island of Mykines with its characteristic mountain peaks. The small romantic villages invite you to visit local artisans. When the weather is nice, you drive over the picturesque mountain pass and enjoy the impressive panorama of the mountains and valleys, waterfalls and lakes. You continue your journey to Torshavn and check into your hotel.
- Day 2: Tórshavn After a hearty breakfast, start the day with a tour of Tórshavn. Visit the old town of Tingane, where the first Vikings lived. See the beautiful city with its harbor and grass-covered houses and hear all about the history of Tórshavn. After a lunch break, the bus continues to Kirkjubøur. It used to be the bishop’s seat and you can still see the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral and the small Olav Church from the Middle Ages. You will also see the old royal residence, considered the oldest inhabited wooden house and now home to the seventeenth generation.
- Day 3: Esturoy Today you visit Esturoy. The trip heads north across the island of Streymoy, with plenty of opportunities for short breaks and photo stops. You drive over the bridge to Eysturoy and along the west coast of the island to Eiði and to the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur, which rises 882 m.a.s.l. The journey continues towards Gjógv, known for its unique natural harbor. From here you can admire the famous rock formations, including Búgvin, which is the highest free-standing cliff block at 188 meters. Continue the trip to Funningur. In Fuglafjord visit the tourist information centerto admire the arts and crafts from the Faroe Islands. In the afternoon you still have time to visit Gøta.
- Day 4: Vestmanna-Cliffs After breakfast you meet our local tour guide again and start an unforgettable excursion. In Vestmanna you board a small passenger ship that takes you on a two-hour boat trip along the Vestmanna cliffs. In the summer months you can admire puffins here and in other seasons you can see an impressively large bird life. After the boat trip, we recommend a fresh fish soup or a visit to a small museum about the history of the Faroe Islands (optional).
- Day 5: Departure Enjoy some free time in Tórshavn before starting your journey back home with lots of new memories.
