Being one of the most spectacular sights in the world, the Northern Lights are a must-see on this trip !

From September until end of march, going up north on dark nights a rare but magnificent phenomenon occurs, this phenomenon is called Northern lights. If you look up next to the stars you may find some green, pink or sometimes even purple lights dancing in the sky, but for experiencing this you have to visit the Land of the never-ending Northern lights!

Day 1: Arrival in Narvik

Arrival in Narvik according to your own itinerary.
In the city you can find many monuments to commemorate the battle of Narvik in 1940 during World War II. Get an authentic Arctic experience in Narvik, where the skies are especially clear – great conditions for observing the northern lights
Accommodation at Thon Hotel Narvik or similar.

Day 2: Narvik – Senja Island (200km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you’ll head towards the famous Senja Island passing by the stunning Gisund Bridge. Watching the northern lights with a fantastic mountainous backdrop? Senja is the place to be!
Accommodation in Hamn i Senja or similar (1 Night)

Day 3: Senja – Tromsø (210km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will leave Senja heading Tromsø the capital of the north. Tromsø is located in the middle of the northern lights oval which is the area with the highest probability of seeing the northern lights! But it is not all about the northern lights, Tromsø is also a very charming city, we recommend having a little walk through the city where you can enjoy a beautiful view from the harbour on the snowy mountains and the famous illuminated arctic cathedral.

Day 4: Tromsø – Northern lights chase

Breakfast at the hotel.  Enjoy the few hours with light and go up to Fjellheisen (421 above sea level) by cable car. Enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of Tromso and the surrounding islands, mountains and fjords ! (Activities available on request). At 19h15 you will be picked up by bus in the city center next to your hotel to chase the northern lights ! Your driver and guide will take you to the best spots for a scenic view where you can take pictures, have snacks and hot drinks which are included within this tour.
Overnight at Clarion The Edge or Similar

Day 5: Tromsø – Alta (300 km)

Breakfast at the hotel; enjoy your drive through the Finnmark region, located at the northernmost part of continental Europe. After arriving in Alta we recommend doing a little stop at the beautiful Northern Lights cathedral. You’ll note circular shapes, waves resembling the northern lights. Furthermore, we recommend a visit to the Rock carvings at Alta museum. These carvings are listed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

Day 6: Alta – Dogsledding

Breakfast at Holmen Husky; today you’ll try dogsledding! Dogsledding is the best way to experience the arctic nature, and frozen landscapes like nothing you have ever seen before. Enjoy the silence of the arctic surroundings while you’re driving your own sled or observe the ride as a passenger, unforgettable experience guaranteed!
Overnight at Holmen Husky, Tipi Bungalow (Shared Bathroom)

 Day 07: Alta – North Cape (285 km)

Breakfast at the hotel; today you will continue your journey in the far north where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Arctic ocean. On the way you can stop by many traditional fishermen villages as Kamoyvær, Gjesvær or Skarsvåg, the northernmost fisherman village of the world. Is there a better way to experience the magic of the northern lights on the northernmost point of Europe?

Day 08: Honningsvåg – Hammerfest

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave Honningsvåg direction Even though Hammerfest, the northernmost city in the world. Hammerfest is one of the oldest towns in Norway, it might strike you as odd how modern Hammerfest looks. The town’s history includes several attempts by men and Mother Nature to remove it from the map, (e.g) after the hurricane that blew it down in 1856, and again after a devastating fire ravaged the town in 1890.

Day 9: Hurtigruten Overnight, Hammerfest – Harstad

Breakfast at the hotel. Board the famous Hurtigruten boat, the departure is schedule at 12h45. Experience the Coastal Express on an overnight cruise under the spectacular northern lights. You’ll arrive in Harstad the next morning around 7h50. Overnight on board in a outside cabin, Bed and Breakfast & Car included.

Day 10: Last night in Harstad.

After a comfortable night on the boat, you will spend your day at leisure in Harstad. Harstad’s mix of old and contemporary architecture in combination with the many cafés and restaurants provides a relaxing atmosphere. Do not forget to look outside the window you might see the last northern lights of your trip!
